See How a Woman Received More than 100 Harassment after Walking in the Streets of NY!

Women's status in our society has evolved as time passed by. From a house dweller, to a voter, to a provider and even a high ranked official in a company or community. But of course, not all women in the world are given the opportunity to have equal rights with men. There are countries and remote areas that are laid-back so women's roles are still that of their traditional way.

Hollaback a non-profit movement to end street harassment performed a social experiment that will show how women in our society are treated nowadays. The actress who will be walking silently in the streets of New York for 10 hours is Shoshana B. Roberts. They used a hidden camera to capture the real scenarios.

Shoshana started walking wearing her jeans and a crew-neck T-shirt. At the beginning of the video, the men already started noticing her. They were greeting her, giving compliments (some are saying in an awkward manner), and asking questions. Some have even walked along with her and tried to start a conversation.

After 10 hours, she received more than 100 comments from different men. They said it is a form of harassment, which happens all the time with women walking in the streets. People may have different stands for this. Some may find this as a normal way of making friends, but for women who are experiencing this, it could be terrifying. It feels unsafe, especially if somebody intrudes your personal space.
